PRESENTATION OF THE HOLY FACE

Explanations given by Patrick Ringgenberg:

The first glimpses faces by man are those of his parents, the first face seen in death is that of God.

Christ gave these words: "Who sees me sees him who sent me" (John XII, 45) .
- A brief comment on my part, I think it's the same for every face that we encounter .... --

The Holy Face is the face of the knowledge of God. It is the true personality of the man, his face ultimate. It is through the face and the light that man sees and knows it is the Holy Face, which is light and vision, it can arise in the eye that sees God and the reality that has ever seen.

Unlike a naturalistic portrait, the Holy Face is a mirror of mind: every Christian to be able to recognize what it is and in the condition of her eyes.

Everybody can see his soul and recognize the beauty who loves.

The icon of the Holy Face it allows people to see who he is, where he comes, wherever he goes. It can also stare all men, whatever their faces and their masks. The Holy Face is the man in connection with the Being, then with all beings. It establishes a face to face between man and man, between man and face. The face to face with the icon leads to the unity of God with his image. That is why the image of the Holy Face is the most sacred of all icons.

The origin of this icon is reported by a legend: The king of the Kingdom of Edessa, Agbar, was suffering from leprosy. Having heard of Christ, he wanted to meet him as he healed and sent an ambassador to Palestine. Christ can not move to Edessa, the emissary of King tried to do his portrait, without success. Christ then took a cloth and placed it on his face which remained miraculously printed. Seeing the footprint of the God-Man on the fabric, Agbar heals. Thereafter, the machine of the Holy Face saved Edessa headquarters of the king of Persia, Khosrow II, the sixth century. Purchased in the tenth century by emperors of Constantinople, he disappeared during the looting of the city by the Crusaders in 1204. Today, icons of the Holy Face testimony still linens miraculous that we called the Mandylion. Only the Shroud of Turin disquieting also discussed that could illustrate what it should be and what it would be today.

The icon of the Holy Face is a door between God and God.

If man is descended from God, his nature is to go back to him. The end of man is its divine origin. By his Incarnation, the Word has shown the way: Christ is the model which every man can relate to regain its uncreated reality.

The Holy Face is the face of the knowledge of God. It is the true personality of the man, his face ultimate. It is through the face and the light that man sees and knows it is the Holy Face, which is light and vision, it can arise in the eye that sees God and the reality that has ever seen .
